Barge Building
Smith Brothers commenced fabrication of a new 30x90x6 barge in Galesville in late 2025. The barge will be completed First Quarter of 2026. The barge is named “LOMAX” after Aaron Lomax, Smith Superintendent in charge of fabrication and a 16-year employee of Smith/McLean. This barge is slated to be added to the rental fleet in Galesville.
Smith Brothers launched a new barge in the early Fall of 2025, adding to the rental fleet. Designated SC172, this barge is 24’x60’x4′ and was built onsite at the Smith Brothers yard in Galesville, Maryland.
She was launched on September 11th with the help of McLean’s Baltimore Whirley and crew. Rental charters for this barge commenced the week of September 22, 2025.
